Неизменно лучшая, она словно существовала вне времени. regimes, rulers, politics, and art changed, but she continued to dance. Her unbreakable will and spirit, the integrity of her character and roles, combined with daring, passion, depth, and an ethereal lightness—all these qualities defined the legendary Maya Plisetskaya.
A queen of world ballet, a symbol not of an era but of centuries, she was always one of a kind. Her dance language was universal; she garnered admiration from American presidents, Japanese emperors, Spanish kings, and Soviet leaders alike.
Dubbed the "best ballerina on the planet" after her iconic 1961 performance of Swan Lake at the Opera Garnier, she conquered the world with her expressive plasticity, phenomenal leaps, incredible flexibility, and effortless grace. Beyond her technical virtuosity, she possessed a unique artistic magic; she could embody roles like Carmen, Isadora, Kitri, and Raymonda with just her hands.
Long fingers, a swan-like neck, regal posture, and a determined face—everything about her proclaimed her a great ballerina and a magnificent actress. Ahead of her time and fashion, she fearlessly experimented and explored, all while remaining a symbol of pure art and unconditional beauty.

Maya was always drawn to new trends, bold innovations, and young talent. The gala concert "Maya Plisetskaya. A Tribute" will feature both renowned ballerinas and dancers, as well as emerging ballet soloists.
Andris Liepa is a consistent organizer and director of grand galas worldwide dedicated to Maya Plisetskaya, including the evening celebrating her 100th anniversary at the Bolshoi Theatre of Russia. "I am fortunate that in 2004, Maya Mikhailovna honored me by inviting me to direct her evenings."
"I am happy to have lived in the same era as such a great ballerina. Her performances from twenty years ago still look contemporary today—a true enigma. Ballet has evolved; steps are bigger, and foot turnout is sharper, yet no one has replicated her leaps. And her energy! I know no other ballerina of the 20th century for whom all the great choreographers of the century—Roland Petit, Maurice Béjart, Yuri Grigorovich—created works. Béjart called her a rebel and said, 'There will never be another Maya!'"
The gala concert of ballet stars "Maya Plisetskaya. A Tribute" marks the next stage of Andris Liepa's annual project "Autographs and Images," which introduces a wide audience to the work of outstanding artists of the 20th century.
The first evening was dedicated to the 80th birthday of Rudolf Nureyev, a tribute to the genius dancer and choreographer. The concert featured leading contemporary male classical dancers, including Ivan Vasiliev, Leonid Sarafanov, Vadim Muntagirov, Semen Chudin, Denis Rodkin, and others.
