The legendary hip-hop duo OutKast was honored with an induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, celebrated with a star-studded tribute performance on November 8th, 2025, at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles. Although André 3000, a member of OutKast, was present and even delivered an acceptance speech, he did not participate in the musical tribute, which ultimately became a source of some disarray.
The performance featured a medley of OutKast's hits, with artists such as Killer Mike, J.I.D., Sleepy Brown, Tyler, The Creator, Janelle Monáe, and Doja Cat taking the stage. OutKast member Big Boi also performed.
The tribute kicked off with "ATLiens," featuring Big Boi and J.I.D. Next, Doja Cat took on "Ms. Jackson," but encountered some difficulties during her performance. Tyler, The Creator then performed "B.O.B.," reportedly bringing some energy back to the set.
Things became more unusual when Janelle Monáe performed "Hey Ya," adopting a distinctive vocal style before moving through the audience. The medley later found its footing with "The Way You Move," featuring Sleepy Brown, and concluded with Killer Mike joining the ensemble for "The Whole World." The fact that André 3000 was in attendance added to the sense of missed opportunity for some.
The 2025 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees also included Soundgarden, Bad Company, Cyndi Lauper, Chubby Checker, and Joe Cocker in the performer category. The induction ceremony was broadcast live on Disney+ on November 8th, 2025, and is available for on-demand streaming.
